Dan Alch — Owner / Head Coach

Dan grew up in Philadelphia, two blocks from where the original “Rocky” movie was filmed. He started in Boy Scouts of America and age 11, completing his Eagle Scout at 16 before he began his coaching career in 1983, at age 17, at Duffy’s Gymnastics Center in Phoenixville, PA under his uncle, the late William H. Duffield (Duffy). From there, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for four years. During his enlistment, Dan worked at Omega School of Gymnastics in Papillion, Nebraska. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Dan was offered the opportunity to go to the NAAG (National Academy of Artistic Gymnastics) to be mentored by Master Clinicians/ Owners Dick & Linda (Metheney) Mulvihill. Linda was a three time Olympian, coached Olympians, and judged both 1996 and 2000 Olympics. Dick has coached over 15 Olympians, and has had World Championship and National Team members. He placed an Olympian on every team from 1964 to 1984. Dan lived with the Mulvihills over 7 years, learning not only in the gym working on the floor over 13 hours a day, but at home watching videos and asking questions of these legendary coaches. Dan and Nichole purchased Arctic Gymnastics in November of 2003.

Nichole Alch — Owner / Team Coach

Nichole has been involved in gymnastics since 1992 when she started her coaching career in California, working as a preschool and recreational coach. She moved to Eugene, Oregon and continued at the National Academy of Artistic Gymnastics as a recreational coach and preschool teacher. In 1997, she moved once again and over the next three years worked as a coach in Seattle, Idaho and Utah. She was the mobile gym and preschool director and increased these programs from 15 students to over 225 students during an 18 month period. Nichole moved to Fairbanks in May 2000, where she taught in a preschool/recreational program. After she and Dan started their family they moved to Anchorage, where she has been the preschool gymnastics director, recreational gymnastics director and Level 1-3 team coach at Arctic Gymnastics. Nichole and Dan purchased Arctic Gymnastics in November of 2003.

Nichole Vonesh — Preschool Director / Camp Director / After School Care

Nicole began working at Arctic Gymnastics in 1996, where she worked with the childcare and preschool programs. In 1999 she began school at UAA working toward an art degree and then later switching to Early Childhood Education. In 2004 she got her CDA in Early Education. She now works full time at Arctic where she runs the afterschool, preschool, and day camp programs. She is energetic and loves working with children and that is evident through watching her interact and work with the many children that attend Arctic Gymnastics Center.

Kea was a competitive gymnast at Arctic Gymnastics and received a scholarship to Boise State. After graduation she returned to the Anchorage area. Her daughter is now following in her footsteps and is a competitive gymnast at Arctic Gymnastics.
